Hardwax Oil for Durable, Natural Timber Protection

Gilly’s Hardwax Oil is a premium timber oil designed to protect, seal, and enhance timber furniture and interior wood surfaces. Made from renewable ingredients and free from toxic chemicals or synthetic resins, it penetrates deep into the timber while strengthening the surface for long-lasting durability.

Unlike traditional coatings that sit on top, this timber wax/oil works from within the wood fibres to create a hard-wearing, breathable finish that won’t blister or peel. The result is a smooth, natural look with excellent resistance to everyday foot traffic, wear, and moisture.

Ideal for wooden furniture, cabinetry, tables, benchtops, doors + more. 100% natural, and VOC free, it's high coverage, easy maintenance, and spot repairs are simple.. no need to sand the entire surface in most cases.

How to Apply

Surface Prep

Ensure surface is clean and dry. Best to strip any previous coatings before using for the first time.
Application
  1. Apply with a clean, lint-free cloth following the grain.
  2. Buff back with another lint-free cloth or buffind pads. A fine applicator pad can also be used, which may be easier.
  3. Allow to sit for 30 minutes, then firmly wipe over the entire area, buffing off any excess.

NOTE: The product can appear thick and gel like. A strong shake for 10-20 seconds, will make it fluid again.

This product is designed to bond with the timber fibres rather than ‘sitting’ on the surface, so each coat should be as thin as possible. Two coats should be all that is required. A third is optional and dependent on the timber/conditions. Wait 24 hours between coats.

For large areas, the product can be thinned up to 20% for easier spreadability, with Gilly’s LoThin.  The coverage is generously large – must be applied sparingly, as a little goes a long way.
Dry Time 24 hours between coats. Allow longer in cold or humid conditions.  Light use okay within 1 week – take care to avoid spills during this time. Full cure takes up to 4 weeks.
Coverage Suggested coverage is 40 sqm p/L, though testing shows more should be achieved. Consider variances between soft and hard woods. Subsequent coats or maintenance coats will have much higher coverage.
Cleanup Gilly’s LoThin, Gilly’s Liquid Soap.
Maintenance Reassess the coating periodically.  Generally, only spot repairs may be required, which can be achieved using the method detailed above.  This coating will not blister or peel.  Sanding won’t be required unless the timber is damaged.  Use only light duty cleaners.  Don’t allow water and spills to sit for too long.

    SHIPPING & RETURNS

     

    Wallpaper products:

    All our ‘stocked’ products are shipped anywhere in Australia within 3-10 working days and all ‘indent order’ products have a lead-time of 2-6 weeks depending on availability on the manufacturers end. If your product is urgent, please contact us for lead-times prior to placing an order.

    Dispatch includes for one to two (1-2) days on top of 3rd party courier companies or AU Post  to your nominated address at the time of order. If you are unavailable at the time of delivery and the product is eventually returned to us, you will have to bear the cost for additional delivery at the original cost. Signatures are not required for all deliveries unless specified otherwise.

    At White Mica, you are entitled to choose a refund OR repair OR exchange OR credit if the products you’ve purchased are faulty, significantly different to those shown or described to you or are not doing what they’re supposed to do. Please ensure to keep your receipts as proof of purchase.

    If products are damaged during the installation process, we do not offer a refund of exchange so please be sure to check your products prior to installation.

    When you buy, please choose your products carefully, as we do not provide refunds for change of mind. This is due to the specialty nature of our products whereby most products are ordered in specifically for you.

    Paint products:

    We DO NOT accept any returns on our paint products particularly the ones colour tinted to order. We do consider exchanges on a case by case basis. This only applies to pre-tinted paints. Product must be un-opened and sealed if a product exchange is approved.
